Social media in workplaces

 In my former workplace, we used social media in every shift. As I do in my workplace now. I'll describe these two and tell the differencies and similarities. 


Former place was a pub/bar. We used instagram stories and tiktok. There was a specific person who did the posts in Instagram and Facebook. We did every week a post what we had going on. For example: DJ's in weekends, artists, bingo etc. We used stories every day, at least one story per day. Atmosphere, offers, short videos from artists playing, troubadours. We also took reservations from Instagram direct messages. Once or twice there were people asking for lost and found. So we used it for marketing, advertising and to make us easier to approach. Free marketing place, so why not to use it. And it was multiple people doing the stories etc. to make it diversive. 


My workplace now, I use social media stories (instagram, facebook), we do reels, posts. I used to work there as a employee, so then I used more. Marketing, finding clients, showing cute pets that visited us, showed my clients form grooming salon. As an entrepeneur I use Instagram less. I don't have time. Usually I'm not alone to do it. Client stories, pictures, marketing services. I use it for me, before I used it for the company. So my point of view has changed. 


My former places both use social media for workers, shifts, connecting and information. I'm not able to say the apps or platforms. But both places had rules and they are a lot alike. As you would think, no names of clients etc, sensitive, no leaks outside, professional language and act like an adult. 


What I have experienced, communication is easier, but not always good quality communication. Misunderstanding since you've texted your things. Not a call or face to face. Texts etc are always there if you use your personal phone. In these places you didn't have to be in the groups but otherwise you'd feel left out. But other ethical problem is that work will follow you home. In my honest opinion you should have work phone. So that ypu can leave work at work. 


All these places has quite formal influence culture. Some times good happy go go posts.

  When I worked at  Nepal Mediciti Hospital , used WhatsApp as the primary tool for communication, serving several purposes such as  Day-to-Day Communication : WhatsApp groups were created for different departments and shifts to share updates and discuss urgent issues.   The adoption of digital media among seniors has been increasing. For instance, in Finland, the use of digital media among people over 70 has been steadily increasing. In 2020, about 51% of Finns aged 75 to 89 used the internet. Among this age group, 19% engaged with social network services, and 30% used the internet several times a day. A growing trend of digital engagement among the elderly, although there is still room for improvement in bridging the digital divide. Many older people struggle with digital literacy or do not have access to the technology, which can leave them feeling isolated.
